Road Trip

I am so excited! My husband and I will be celebrating our 36th anniversary this Sunday! We have decided that we will take a road trip to celebrate. We don't have a particular destination in mind and no particular time schedule. I'm not sure if we're taking our convertible or not but we just want to take the scenic route and stop whenever we feel like it, see what we want and then move on. I can hardly wait to get started and I'll be posting lots of pictures I'm sure!
Another exciting note is that I got the tulip and crocus bulbs that I had sent for. I can hardly wait to plant them! Ive already planted some new iris. According to the package they will be a sapphire blue. Ive never seen that color iris before so I will be waiting with great anticipation next year!

Small Towns and Other Thoughts

I love driving through small towns shortly before dusk! It seems so peaceful and more relaxed than in the daytime. There are often people out jogging, walking, taking their dogs out for exercise or just sitting on their front porches. I love to drive by the pretty houses and wonder what might be going on in there. If I had a choice I always think I would like to live a medium city with a yard large enough to have a couple of flower beds but for now we live in the country and there are many advantages to that also.
In other thoughts I have to tell you another tidbit about our little poodle, Paisley. She has some of the silliest habits! When she wants to sit on the area rug in the dining room, she acts almost as if she were parking a car. She will turn her back to the rug and square up then she starts backing up until her body is all on the rug except her front feet then she lays down with her front feet on the bare floor. So silly!
I was wandering around the Mattoon Public Library the other day looking at the many books on their shelves and I was reminded of the recurring dream I used to have as a child.I would be in this room with all the books I had been longing to read.I would reach up to take one off the shelves and it would turn to vapor in my hands. I would reach for another and the same thing would happen. I would wake up so sad. I was a real bookworm and there is really nothing wrong with that except that I took it too far. I caught myself thinking that if there were no books in Heaven then I didn't want to go there! In my defense, I was very young but as soon as I thought it I was apologizing to God because I knew deep down I didn't really mean it. Now that I am an adult I know that dream is a very real lesson on life. Everything of earthly substance here on earth really will be just as vapor and the only thing that matters for eternity is our Relationship with, and our faith in God!
I really need to get to work now and get a few things done before I go take my mom to get her hearing aid checked out. It is not working right and is very frustrating to her. Even at the best of times she can barely hear so she really needs that hearing aid. She can't hear at all out of her one ear! So sad!

Fall is Here

The weather has been beautiful today! I guess Fall is really here. It makes me so sad to see summer ending but I do love fall too! I have started some decorating. This week I made a fall wreath for the front door, purchased supplies to make one for the garage door and did some things with pumpkins. I'll post pictures when I'm done.
Paisley, our little poodle, thinks this weather is rather chilly. Here she is all cuddled up in her little bed:

God of all Comfort

I read 2 Corinthians in my devotions this morning. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and and the God of all comfort. That phrase is more delightful than fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy! It tops even having my husband's arms around me when I'm feeling lost! It's better than having my youngest child patting my cheeks with his soft little hands. That's saying a lot!
Our God is so amazing, whether it's in the little things or the big ones. His answers to prayers never cease to amaze me. I love so much to be able to tell people about the answers I have gotten. God is amazingly awesome!
